These programs have been specifically designed to prepare learners to take the GED test. Our programs offer over 60 lessons in reading, math, social studies, science, literature, and essay writing. The lessons are highly interactive, focusing on thinking skills and are chocked full of specific, short checkpoint quizzes. There are also diagnostic pre- and post- tests, and a half-length, timed practice test. In response to each quiz and test question, learners receive question-by-question contextual feedback for each right or wrong answer.

Upon enrollment, each learner is assigned a GED coach, who offers assistance with GED course material and, equally importantly, provides encouragement as needed. Our online coaches also monitor the GED study hall to make sure that learners receive correct, timely answers to their questions.

Completion of a GED course of study does not guarantee that the student will pass the GED test. Every attempt is made to prepare students to successfully complete the test, but test results are the individual's responsibility.

DETAILED PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

These six subjects are covered in all of our online GED preparation programs:

1. Mathematics lessons are designed to enable an individual to comprehend and solve math problems - often an area where individuals struggle on the GED. There are 25 total lessons covering every fundamental math skill that will be covered on the GED test. There is also a pre-test, post-test, and 2 sessions on the practice test (with and without calculator).

2. Language Arts, Writing lessons are designed to improve an individual's ability to identify and fix errors in information, business communication, and how-to texts. There are 4 writing lessons. There is also a pre-test, post-test, and practice test session.

3. Language Arts, Reading lessons are designed to improve an individual's ability to apply thinking skills to questions relating to given non-fiction, prose, poetic, and dramatic texts. There are 4 reading lessons, a pre-test, a post-test, and a practice test session.

4. Essay lessons are designed to improve a person's ability to write an essay offering their opinion or explanation of a general knowledge topic – a major factor in an individual’s ability to pass the GED. There are 3 essay lessons.

5. Science lessons are designed to improve an individual's ability to apply thinking skills to scientific data that is in the form of charts, maps, pictures, short prose, and flowcharts. There are 16 science lessons, and a pre-test, post-test, and practice test session.

6. Social Studies lessons are designed to improve an individual's ability to apply thinking skills to social studies data, such as historical texts, political cartoons, and government documents. There are 14 social studies lessons, plus a pre-test, post-test, and practice test session.

In addition to the online lessons and one-to-one coaching, we also offer diagnostic pre-tests and post-tests that determine the specific weaknesses of each learner in the GED skill areas noted above, thereby focusing the learner's time and energy on those subjects the individual needs to work on, rather than a rote recitation of the GED requirements.

After a learner completes the lessons and feels confident with the material, he/she is provided a timed, practice test. Both the learner and coach receive a report showing the practice test results in each subject area. Based on those results, learners decide if they should back up and review or if they are ready for the real thing - the GED Test.
